It's the most common question we get. Here's what the trim jump actually buys you, what we can add for a lot less, and when you should just buy the Lariat.
If you mainly want leather and a nicer-feeling cabin, buy the XLT and add it. You keep most of that gap in your pocket.
If you tow heavy and want the bigger 3.5L engine, or you're leasing, the Lariat can be the smarter buy. We'd tell you the same thing in the shop.
| 2026 base MSRP, before destination | Price |
|---|---|
| F-150 Lariat | $59,560 |
| F-150 XLT | $44,695 |
| + CST leather interior, installed | $1,899 |
| XLT + Trim Tax upgrade | $46,594 |
| Difference vs. Lariat | ≈ $12,966 |
Base prices are starting MSRP and the base configurations aren't identical, so price your actual build. Last checked October 2026.
